What does your job involve?

My job involves project management of innovation projects for clients. We are hired when there is a complex product that needs to be developed, produced and brought to the market in a structured way. In most cases, I work with a multi-disciplinary project team from the client.

Each project challenges me to learn about the specific product we are developing: from dispensing machines to bicycles to radars.

What skills do you need to
succeed as a project manager?

You need to be inquisitive to be able to quickly adapt to a new company and their product for each assignment. It is also quite useful if you have a background in industrial design engineering yourself to fully understand the needs of your team. The combination of being structured and creative is a good skill for a project manager in innovation. And, last but not least: you definitely need to have a heart for new product development.”

What do you like most about your job?

The thing I like most about my job is the diversity. This diversity lies within many elements of my job. The different companies I have worked for, the teams, the culture and interesting people I get to meet and work with. On top of this, each project challenges me to learn about the specific product we are developing: from dispensing machines to bicycles to radars.
